Le calendrier berbère est le calendrier agraire utilisé par les Berbères dans l'Antiquité.

De nos jours Il est employé pour régler les travaux agricoles saisonniers, de préférence au calendrier grégorien et au calendrier musulman qui, étant de type lunaire et n'ayant aucun lien avec le cycle des saisons, est utile pour calculer les fêtes religieuses mais ne se prête pas à un emploi en agriculture.

Il existe un décalage de 14 jours entre le calendrier grégorien et le calendrier berbère. Sa base de calcul étant identique que celle du calendrier julien, les Berbères fêtent donc la nouvelle année le 14 janvier du calendrier grégorien ce qui correspond au premier jour du mois Yennayer du calendrier berbère.

En Algérie cependant — probablement suite à des renseignements erronés de quelques associations culturelles — la date la plus répandue pour le nouvel an berbère est le 12 janvier.

Une vidéo qui circule sur les réseaux sociaux, Publiée le 20 nov. 2012 sur Youtube, qui montre le (nouveau) siège du parlement Algérien, réalisé certainement avec le logiciel de rendu 3D LumionPro.

Pour le moment y a aucune repense ou une source pour confirmer le projet si c’est officiel ou c’est juste un travail (amateur).

Pour le moment la vidéo au niveau qualité est très bien réaliser bien choisis les angles et le parcours des caméras, et côté bâtiment et architecturale est vraiment loin d’être un travail d’amateurs, même la musique est bien choisis (sauf que le titre de la musique ! « We Can Fly » nous laisse le choix de rêver on volant pour voir ce chef-d’œuvre un jour réaliser en Algérie.

Greetings Takashi:
Thank you for your kind letter and for your offer of publishing the story of my “converting” from Christianity to Islam.
Before I begin, I must mention that I am leaving on a flight from here (Washington, DC) to Atlanta in 30 minutes to speak at a special event there. You had requested information on how a Christian priest (a Catholic priest friend of ours named Peter Jacobs), a preacher (myself) and a reverend (my father came last) came to Islam. This email will serve as our permission to publish any information published on our website or in this email for your newspaper. You may feel assured that we are most happy to cooperate with you in any way possible.
I could perhaps begin by saying, that I have personally witnessed many “converts” coming into Islam in this country (and Mexico as well). But many people consider my own personal experience to be rather unique in that it was not simple one person changing their religion, but rather an entire household of very religious Christians of three different denominations [Catholic, "Born Again" and Protestant) all "converting" to Islam.
[The reason I choose to put the word "convert" in brackets is because the understanding as taught by the prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, is that all children are born in a state of "Islam" (surrender, submission and obedience to Almighty God) and it is their parents who raise them up as Jews, Christians, Fire Worshippers. So, Muslims consider it more like returning or "reverting" to Islam.]
But please do not get the wrong idea, although we entered into Islam within a close proximity in time we each individually came to the conclusion that Islam was our own personal choice and it was not an instant decision as a group coming over to Islam.
While we would all agree that there are always going to be a certain number of people who, for whatever reason, will change from one religion to another, we must also quickly agree that it is highly unusual to find a number of priests, preachers, reverends and holy men (and women) from various faith groups, simultaneously entering the same faith around the world.
My own personal story begins on the Texas/Mexican border in December of 1990. I was born a white, Anglo-Saxon Protestant and at that time I was working very actively toward preaching “Born Again” Christianity to anyone and everyone that would listen. I was definitely NOT LOOKING FOR ISLAM. In fact, religious leaders of Christianity and Judaism would have us believe, that Islam is a cult of some kind with the followers worshipping a black box in the desert and kissing the ground five times a day. Additionally, we have been programmed by the media to classify most Muslims as “terrorists,” “highjackers” and “kidnappers.” So why would anyone even look at Islam???
Good question . . .
All my close friends at that time were either preachers, ministers or very much active and involved in preaching a message of “Saving Grace by blood sacrifice from the Holy Trinity of Jesus.”
One preacher I knew used to carry a huge (12′ long) cross on his back and walk alongside the highway to attract people to “come to Jesus.”
Another preacher used to take me into Mexico and we would preach in the square or market to individuals about the “salvation of Christ.” We were even arrested in the night by the Mexican Federal Police and investigated (Mexico is predominantly Catholic and does not encourage other religions).
Ah alas, I feared that I would run out of time before completing this story for you. I must go immediately to the airport now….

( 135 ) O les croyants! Observez strictement la justice et soyez des témoins (véridiques) comme Allah l'ordonne, fût-ce contre vous-mêmes, contre vos père et mère ou proches parents. Qu'il s'agisse d'un riche ou d'un besogneux, Allah a priorité sur eux deux (et Il est plus connaisseur de leur intérêt que vous). Ne suivez donc pas les passions, afin de ne pas dévier de la justice. Si vous portez un faux témoignage ou si vous le refusez, [sachez qu'] Allah est Parfaitement Connaisseur de ce que vous faites.

( 135 ) O you who have believed, be persistently standing firm in justice, witnesses for Allah, even if it be against yourselves or parents and relatives. Whether one is rich or poor, Allah is more worthy of both. So follow not [personal] inclination, lest you not be just. And if you distort [your testimony] or refuse [to give it], then indeed Allah is ever, with what you do, Acquainted.

The Beauty of Islamic Cleanliness, and how it led a Washing Room Lady to Islam

It is no secret that Muslims possess a level of cleanliness that far outweighs practicers of other religions, with Islam giving instructions on how to be clean in many different facets of life, covering areas from eating, bathing, sexual relations, and going to the toilet. Rather surprisingly, it is the latter of these which had a particular impact upon Sheikh Abdur-Raheem McCarthy in his discovery of Islam.

In a television interview where Sheikh Abdur-Raheem McCarthy gives his story on how he became a Muslim, he reveals that the common western practices of going to the toilet openly in front of other people, and it being considered manly to stand and urinate never sat right with him, and he always felt unease with these practices. Learning that Islam has a negative view of these practices had a profound effect on him, as if Islam was inline with his natural disposition.

These simple instructions from Allah are often taken for granted by Muslims, and we often do not realise the true beauty in them, their benefits to our health, and the effects that practicing them can have on non-muslims. This is evident in a story related by Sheikh Abdur-Raheem McCarthy, where a dedication to cleanliness touched the heart of a non-muslim.

He describes the story of an old woman who worked in the laundry of a UK University, washing and ironing the clothes of the students. One day she came across the clothes of a Muslim student, which she found to have no stains from going to the toilet. In her 25 years in the job she had never seen clothes this spotless, and after finding the same thing each time the student brought the clothes, curiosity led her to ask the reason. After being told of Islamic cleanliness, the lady declared that a religion like this has to be the religion of truth. This story should serve as a lesson to all of us that even the smallest practices can be powerful methods of Dawah.

Muslim Cordoba - Europe 's Centre of Learning

In the Middle Ages, roughly between 800 and 1200 C.E., most of Europe was in its Dark Ages. Scientifically the continent was very backward, technologically and culturally. The majority of the population were illiterate and ignorant.

Although this period of history was ‘dark’ for Christian Europe, the Muslim lands were, in sharp contrast, very ‘illuminated’. Muslims lived in very beautifully planned cities. Most people were able to read and write. There were public hospitals, public and private libraries, colleges, universities, public baths, wonderful parks and gardens. The Muslims were advanced in mathematics, physics, astronomy, engineering, medicine, surgery, philosophy, geography, architecture, art, chemistry etc.

One such Muslim land was Islamic Spain. Whilst the rest of Europe was dark, Islamic Spain was an oasis of light. The capital city was Cordoba, a great centre of learning and culture. The university of Cordoba enjoyed the same reputation that those of Oxford and Cambridge have today.

The inhabitants of Cordoba were highly educated and had a great love for knowledge. This was evident by the number of bookshops, public and private libraries which existed in the city.

Just as today people like to furnish their homes with beautiful and expensive furniture, the people of Cordoba used to decorate their homes with beautiful and valuable books. The streets of Cordoba were lined on both sides with long rows of bookshops.

Caliph Hakam II (ruler 961 - 976 CE) is said to have had 400,000 books in his own private library. The books recording the names of authors and titles consisted of 44 volumes.

Ibn Futays, a merchant of Cordoba, had one of the biggest private libraries. It was set in a purpose-built building and had as its librarian the Cordoban scholar Abu Abd’Allah al Hadrami (died 1006 CE). He also served as the Imam of the family mosque of Ibn Futays. There were around 70 public libraries in Cordoba during the time of Caliph Hakam II. Included in this were the great mosque libraries which were open for anyone to go to and use. Professors, students and booksellers used to flock to Cordoba, which had become the intellectual centre of the West by the tenth century C.E. There is a famous letter written by King George II of England to Caliph Hisham III (ruler 1027 - 1031 C.E.) requesting permission to allow one of the English princesses to study at the university of Cordoba. The following is the wording of his letter:

“From George II, the King of England, Gaul, Sweden and Norway to the Caliph of the Muslim Kingdom of Spain, his majesty Hisham III.

We have been advised that science, knowledge, technology and industry are far advanced in your country, therefore we wish to take the opportunity for our youth to benefit from your achievements as our country lacks in these facilities and is in total darkness.

The universities of Muslim Spain served as models for subsequent universities in Europe. Two early universities which are believed to have been directly influenced were those of Palencia in Spain (founded by King Alfonso VIII of Castile in 1208 C.E.) and the university of Naples (built by Emperor Frederick II in 1224 C.E.).
